Abstract:

Mian Dido is a well-known historical figure from Jammu who personifies a unique blend of cultural bravery and defiance of colonial rule. He is highly regarded in the mythology of the Dogra region and led a heroic fight against the Sikh rulers in the early 19th century. The sociopolitical context of Mian Dido's insurrection, his portrayal in Dogra tradition, and his enduring impact are all examined in this essay. Through a careful examination of historical records and folktales, the article aims to show how Mian Dido influenced Jammu's regional identity.
