Abstract:

Akṣarabrahman holds a central place in Indian philosophical discourse, particularly within the Vedāntic framework elucidated in the Prasthānatrayī-the Upaniṣad, Śrīmad Bhagvad Gītā and the Brahmasūtras.
However, the interpretation of its nature, form, and role has been a subject of considerable academic debate, with divergent perspectives emerging from scholars, theologians, and practitioners. These discourses reflect broader epistemological and ontological tensions within Indian philosophical traditions.
The principle of Akṣarabrahman within the Svāminārāyaṇa Darśana, as articulated by Bhagwan Svāminārāyaṇa, occupies a pivotal position in its metaphysical framework. According to the Svāminārāyaṇa Vedānta, Akṣarabrahman is as an eternal, imperishable entity distinct from yet inseparably linked to Parabrahman offers a sophisticated theological construction. Nonetheless, there was a lack of systematic comparative analysis of how this entity as linked, interpreted and established in the Prasthānatrayī.
This paper addresses this issue and provides a clear insight of nature and form of Akṣarabrahman entity through the Prasthānatrayī scriptures.
Moreover, this research explores the scriptural basis of this ontology, analyzing how Akṣarabrahman is portrayed as both the metaphysical substratum of creation and the exemplary entity for spiritual aspirants seeking liberation. The paper critically examines verses and interpretations from the Prasthānatrayī to demonstrate the centrality of Akṣarabrahman in bridging the soul (jīva) with Parabrahman through upāsanā (devotional worship).
