The Mahā-Purāṇas, a significant corpus within the ancient Indian literary tradition, serve as a critical source for understanding the historical and cultural landscape of ancient India. This paper explores the historical elements embedded within the Mahā-Purāṇas, analyzing their role as both historical records and cultural narratives that have shaped Indian identity over millennia.
