Tourism is recognized as the biggest industry in the world as it is a complex endeavor with a variety of positive socioeconomic impacts. The Indian state of Assam, which is located in the northeast, is well-known for a variety of factors, including its diverse biodiversity, tea gardens, ancient culture, and wildlife archaeology. The diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of Assam makes it a possible tourist destination. As a result, Assam's tourism industry has the greatest potential for creating jobs and revenue. However, this potential has not been fully realized. Despite the fact that the state government occasionally implements various programs, it is impossible to evaluate their success. Based on secondary data sources, the current study seeks to emphasize tourism's potential as a route to Assam's socioeconomic progress, as well as the numerous obstacles the state encounters. Furthermore, as a perspective tool for Assam's socioeconomic development, the paper recommends strategies for enhancing the tourism industry.
